"What the internationally renowned Irish band,
The
Chieftains, has done for Irish music,
Battlefield Band.
is doing for
the music of Scotland."
BILLBOARD |
|
 |
Named
after the Glasgow suburb of Battlefield, home to one of its
founding
members, this traditional Celtic band has toured the globe for
some
three decades. Voted "Best Live Act" of the
Scots Trad Music
Awards, expect nothing short of a virtuoso performance.
The "Batties"
mix the old songs with new self-penned material and perform them
on
a unique fusion of ancient and modern instruments - bagpipe,
fiddle,
synthesizer, guitar, cittern, flute, bodran and
accordion. |
Beautifully performed,
The Road of Tears
, the title cut of their new CD, embracing the age-old conflict
of
emigration and displacement, will surely bring a tear to the
eye.
Battlefield Band is one of the most musically accomplished
bands
to grace our stage - an opportunity not to be missed!

The US Senate designated April
6th as
National Tartan Day
in 1998 to
honor "the outstanding contribution of millions of
Scottish-Americans to our great nation" and the House of
Representatives
passed a similar resolution in 2005. The significance of April
6th
dates back to the 1320 signing of the
Declaration of Arbroath
, which
was the model for the American Declaration of
Independence.
